There's something very important we have to remember when we talk about Puerto Vallarta: that it's inside the state of Jalisco and that means that mariachi is part of the esence of our city and that's about to be proven with a wonderful festival.
Al Calor del Mariachi is a festival that will start next Sunday, June 25th with a parade called "Maleconeada", which it's meant to be very emotional, besides musical. It will go through the entire Malecón to wrap up at Los Arcos.
This day, we'll also have the opening of an amazing exhibition of paintings that has as its main inspiration the mariachi and it will take place at the river Cuale Cultural Centre.
On the 26th there will be tons of activities along the Malecón, the Lázaro Cárdenas park and the Hidalgo park.
Among them, there will be a painting and photography exhibition, "El Canto del Tunkuluchu", a show that tells a story with the rhythm of mariachi, public serenades and lots of music throughout the streets. The Sheraton Buganvilias will be the host hotel of this great event and it will offer a welcome cocktail on June 27th for all the workshop partakers that will be arriving to Puerto Vallarta.
On Wednesday the 28th the workshops and the commercial expo will start at the Sheraton hotel where there will also be a sale for accesories, instruments, clothing, among other products of the mariachi world and it will finish at night time with a free concert at the Malecón lighthouse.
On Thursday the 29th the workshops, the expo and the serenades will continue but the main event will be at night when a special gala dinner will happen and an award will be given, the "Mariachi, culture and tradition" and there will also be a sale of the works of the photography and painting contest.
On Friday the 30th at 8 pm the official festival closing with the spectacular concert "Por Amor al Mariachi " will take place that will have some very special guests such as Aída Cuevas, Valeria Cuevas and the Nuevo Tecalitlán and Joya de México mariachis.
